Elementary School Administrator

There are few greater privileges than laying a solid foundation for children who will eventually become positive influencers for Christ throughout our world. Born and raised right here in Azusa, I have not only lived a lifetime within the community, but have also spent a career focused on equipping and educating people for success. My undergraduate degree in Sociology as well as my Master's degree in Public Administration, both from UC Riverside, strengthened my ability to pursue my passion of working with and educating people. After a rewarding career in the field of workforce development – both in customer service and in executive management, I now am delighted to contribute to the leadership and growth of Light and Life Christian School of Azusa.

My husband Henry and our two children, Brianna and Rachel, worship at Foothill Community Church (FCC) where we have learned to develop and deepen our personal relationships with Jesus Christ. I am blessed to partner with the leaders of FCC to provide an excellent Christian education to children throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Please drop by the office and introduce yourself to me – I look forward to meeting you!

Melinda Badillo
Kindergarten Teacher
Hi, my name is Melinda Badillo. I am a graduate of California State University with a Bachelors Degree in Child Development. I also received my Multiple Subject Credential from Cal State LA. I believe that God has called me to teach.

I am devoted and committed to every aspect of my career. The love of teaching is evident in everything I do. With every new experience that I face, a piece of it lends itself to a positive classroom environment. I am very excited that God has given me the opportunity to teach kindergarten at Light and Life. It is with God's guidance that I will apply my skills and experience in teaching our children so that they may grow academically and spiritually.

It is a pleasure and a privilege to be part of the teaching staff at Light and Life Christian School

Rachel McClune
First Grade Teacher
Greetings from first grade. My name is Rachel McClune and I have been a part of the Light and Life Christian School family since 1997. Currently I am the first grade teacher. I have also had the pleasure of teaching in the preschool for four years and the kindergarten for the past three. I've also counted it a blessing to watch my own daughter be nurtured and taught in the loving care of Light and Life teachers. I am currently a full-time student myself -- working toward my masters degree and credentials at APU.

First grade is an exciting place. Our days are filled with love, laughter and learning. With a rigorous and challenging curriculum and standard based instruction our students are on target for academic success.

Second Grade Teacher
Hello to all! I am so excited to be joining the Light and Life family. I have been around the school since 1997. I have helped lead the summer program and have served on the board. Light and Life has a special place in my heart. I am so excited to have an opportunity to be on staff here.

My husband, Rob, and I have also been attending Foothill Community Church since our college years. We are both very active in the ministries of the church. We count it a joy to be a part of this community.

I have a heart for teaching Christian education and molding young minds into not only knowing their ABCs and 123s, but knowing who is the designer and maker of it all. I am a graduate of APU with a BA in Liberal Studies and a multi-subject credential. I taught three years in a private school, before taking time off to raise my two girls, Erika and Sarah. Now I am feeling God calling me back to teaching and no better place than where I have chosen to place my two girls.

Dave Kachele
Third Grade Teacher
Though I had godly influence in my life from the beginning, I did not truly give my heart to Jesus until I was twenty-six years old. Everything changed for the better, especially in my own spirit. My wife, Dona, and I have been growing in love together for thirty years. We have four adult children who all know and love the Lord Jesus.

Very early in our journey, the Lord led me back to college to earn a teaching credential. I already had a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and two years of informal Bible College. My first assignment in 1979 was to teach a 5/6 combination class at Trinity Christian School in Las Vegas, Nevada. I've been involved in Christian schools through at least the 8th grade. The 2003-04 school year was my first at Light and Life Christian School. I am now the fourth grade teacher. We love being a part of this community, and would love to have you join us.

Fourth & Fifth Grade Teacher
My transition into teaching the fantastic students of Light and Life Christian School has been an incredible and blessed journey. I graduated from Cal-State University at Chico in 1981 with a B.A. degree in Physical Education, emphasis in Adaptive Physical Education and Computer Science. The allure of corporate business called me as I spent 23 years working for corporations such as Bank of America, Unocal and Ingram Micro in the area of Information Technology. The desire to teach came on strong as I enjoyed watching and being a part of my son's excellent high school career as a student athlete.

My lovely wife, Jennifer, and I are very involved in leading God's people in worship at our home church, The Lamb's Fellowship of Lake Elsinore; and when there is a need, we also lead worship at other churches in the Free Methodist Southern California Conference. When not worshipping, we enjoy our rural home in Wildomar and spending time with our son. He is now attending Cal Baptist University and is following in his father's footsteps, studying Kinesiology and playing collegiate baseball. I humbly acknowledge that our Lord Jesus Christ continues to bless and I am forever grateful!
